Social distancing, as a means to checkmate the spread of coronavirus pandemic in the country, a passenger waiting to board BRT Bus at Ikorudu Bus-Stop, Lagos has lamented and alleged Lagos State Government of its inability and failure to enforce strict order on compliance with social distancing in the state.

An anonymous passenger while in a phone conversation with Khalid Imran, Editor, Naija Today News lamented that Lagos State Government had not got ready to contain and curtail the spread of pernicious disease.

While justifying his stance, he said he was at BRT Bus-Stop, Ikorodu axis in the early hours of Tuesday, May 5th with intention to board the available bus to Lagos Island, adding that his intention was premised on social distancing orderliness being emphasised by government before he left his home but he was surprised to see the crowded passengers waiting to get buses.
He lamented that containment, curtailment and total eradication of coronavirus pandemic in Lagos State and Nigeria at large remains a figment of imagination, considering the ways and manner the government is handling the issue of social distancing.
He added that government had only limited its enforcement on social distancing to pages of newspapers, broadcasting stations and social media alone but its true and physical enforcement becomes an herculean task.
He said social distancing was one of the best ways through which Covid-19 could be checkmated and brought to a bearest minimum, stressing that if government at all levels fail to enforce strict order and masses’ compliance with social distancing, its eradication remains a figment of imagination.
He called on governments at federal and state levels to collaborate and think of means and strategies through which the masses would easily comply with it.

He appreciated the governments for being proactive, diligent and pragmatic in fighting against the deadly disease, adding that many would not appraise them now until they end the pandemic.
