In a commendable demonstration of commitment to grassroots development and religious harmony, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for Ibadan North Federal Constituency, August 16 Bye-election, Hon. Folajimi Oyekunle, had volunteered to complete the roofing of the Yemetu Oni Lane Abijamori Central Mosque in Ward 3, Ibadan North.

The intervention has brought significant relief to the Muslim community, which had faced difficulties completing the mosque’s roofing due to prolonged funding challenges. Despite months of collective fundraising efforts by worshippers and residents, the project had stalled until Hon. Oyekunle stepped in with decisive support.

During a visit to the site, the Chief Imam of the mosque, Alhaji OlorunKemi, lauded Hon. Oyekunle’s gesture, describing it as both timely and spiritually uplifting.
“We sincerely appreciate Honourable Folajimi Oyekunle for his intervention in the work of God,” the Imam said. “May the Almighty grant him the desires of his heart. Before his assistance came, our efforts to complete the project had made little progress.”
The mosque, a vital center for worship in the Yemetu Oni Lane and Abijamori community, had been left partially roofed for months—posing discomfort to congregants, particularly during inclement weather.

The act of generosity has drawn widespread praise from both community members and Islamic leaders, who described Hon. Oyekunle as a responsive and compassionate leader. Many hailed his consistent track record of attending to local needs and offering practical solutions that directly impact constituents.

“This is not the first time Hon. DON has shown up for the people. His actions reflect a genuine understanding of the struggles and aspirations of the grassroots,” said one resident.
As the 2025 election season gathers momentum, Hon. Oyekunle’s gesture has further solidified his reputation as a people-oriented politician one whose campaign promises are matched by tangible action.
