Very recently, I have been having interactions with various groups, from corporate bodies to informal sectors, I am struck by a profound realisation: people yearn for good governance, and they can spot it when they see it. This desire goes beyond superficial appearances, it speaks to a deep-seated desire for authentic leadership that truly serves the people. It is a desire that is rooted in the fundamental human need for dignity, respect, and fairness.
In my engagements with the public, I have witnessed firsthand the discerning nature of the people of Oyo State. They can distinguish between rhetoric and reality, between empty promises and concrete action. This discernment is an affirmation to the inherent wisdom of the people, who will not settle for anything less than genuine leadership. In my aspiration to serve the people of Oyo State, I am committed to upholding this standard of excellence, to providing a brand of governance that is truly of the people, by the people, and for the people. This commitment is guided by the understanding that good governance is a moral imperative, as well, a prerequisite for sustainable development and human flourishing.
The desire for good governance is not merely a sentimental longing; it is a fundamental human aspiration. All over the world, people want to live in a society where their voices are heard, their needs are met, and their rights are respected. They want to see leaders who are accountable, transparent, and responsive to their concerns. As a public servant and someone who has devoted an meaningful number of my adult life to quality service, I recognise the weight of this responsibility, and I am dedicated to ensuring that the government of Oyo State remains an emblem of hope for its citizens, and this demands a relentless focus on delivering results and making a difference in the lives of the Oyo State people.
Amidst all of this, I am filled with a sense of optimism and purpose. I believe that we can build a better Oyo State together, one that is characterised by good governance, sustainable development, and human flourishing. This vision is not merely a pipe dream; it is an achievable goal that we can attain if we work together, if we harness our collective energies and resources towards a common objective, – and this can bring us to a point where progress in one area reinforces and accelerates progress in others.
In the days ahead and the journey before us, I pledge and reiterate that my vision is to serve the people of Oyo State with integrity, humility, good conscience, and a deep commitment to the welfare of the people. I will work tirelessly to ensure that the government is responsive, accountable, and transparent, – that we prioritise the needs of our citizens and that we strive for excellence in all that we do. We can build a future for Oyo State that is worthy of our highest aspirations – a future not for ourselves, but also for generations ahead.
