The Ibadanland community is on the cusp of a new chapter in its rich history, as the Olubadan-in-Council prepares to convene a crucial meeting to discuss the enthronement of Oba Rasidi Ladoja as the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland. Scheduled to take place on Monday at the new Olubadan palace in Oke-Aremo, Ibadan North Local Government Area, the meeting is expected to be a significant milestone in the transition process.

The meeting, set to begin at 11:00 a.m., will bring together all High Chiefs of Ibadanland, who will deliberate on the appointment of Oba Ladoja, the Olubadan-designate. According to a notice of meeting issued by the Balogun of Ibadanland, Oba Tajudeen Ajibola, all High Chiefs are expected to attend this momentous occasion.

The timing of the meeting is particularly noteworthy, as it follows the expiration of the 21-day mourning period for the late 43rd Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Owolabi Olakulehin. The passing of Oba Olakulehin marked the end of an era, and the enthronement of Oba Ladoja is expected to usher in a new era of growth and development for the Ibadanland community.

As the Olubadan-designate, Oba Rasidi Ladoja has been away from Ibadan since the demise of the late Kabiyesi. However, he is expected to return to Ibadan this weekend, ahead of the meeting. During his time away, Oba Ladoja has been receiving visitors at his Lagos residence, where he has been engaging with well-wishers and stakeholders.

The Olubadan-in-Council meeting is a critical step in the enthronement process, and all eyes are on the High Chiefs as they gather to discuss the appointment of Oba Ladoja. The outcome of the meeting is eagerly anticipated, and the Ibadanland community is likely to be watching with bated breath.

In a related development, the final burial ceremony of the late Oba Olakulehin will take place on Friday, 8 August 2025, at Saint Peter’s Cathedral, Aremo, Ibadan. The ceremony will provide an opportunity for the Ibadanland community to pay their last respects to the late monarch.

As the Ibadanland community looks to the future, the enthronement of Oba Ladoja is expected to bring new energy and vision to the throne. With the meeting of the Olubadan-in-Council just around the corner, the stage is set for a smooth transition and a new era of leadership.

The return of Oba Ladoja to Ibadan this weekend will undoubtedly generate excitement and anticipation among the Ibadanland community. As they prepare to welcome their new Olubadan, the people of Ibadanland are likely to be filled with hope and expectation for the future.
