Ona-Ara Local Government witnessed another big win for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the administration of Governor Seyi Makinde as the OTOPE Political Movement, founded by Dr. Temitope Oladimeji (popularly known as OTOPE), held its 2nd Quarter General Meeting on Saturday, August 9, 2025, at IDC Primary School, Olunloyo.

The meeting became a rallying point for unity and progress as members of the Hope Democratic Party (HDP), led by Mr. Ajibola, officially declared their defection to the PDP. Speaking on behalf of the new members, Mr. Ajibola said their decision was inspired by the transformative governance of Governor Seyi Makinde in Oyo State and the grassroots development efforts championed by Dr. OTOPE in Ona-Ara.

The event drew PDP leaders from both Egbeda and Ona-Ara LGs, members of the OTOPE Political Movement, Senior Citizens’ Chairman Comrade Kola Olorunsogo, Nigerian Union of Tailors (NUT) representative Ojewale Hammed, Ona-Ara PMS representative Akinlabi Wakili, ACOMORAN representative Ismaili Olalekan, and Maruwa Riders’ representative Babatunde Opeyemi, among other prominent community figures.
In his remarks, Dr. Temitope Oladimeji reaffirmed his loyalty to the PDP and his commitment to Governor Makinde’s vision of a better Oyo State. He pledged to mobilize even more residents for the forthcoming voter registration exercise, urging the defectors to immediately integrate into PDP structures at their ward levels.

“Governor Seyi Makinde has shown us that politics can be about service, transparency, and people-first leadership,” Dr. OTOPE said. “This is the time for us to stand united under the PDP umbrella and work for the continuous progress of our communities.”

The gathering ended with renewed energy, as chants of “PDP! Power to the People!” echoed across the venue, signaling the party’s growing strength and influence in Ona-Ara Local government.
