The Speaker, Oyo State House of Assembly and Chairman, Conference of Speakers of State Legislatures of Nigeria, Rt. Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin, has extended his warmest congratulations to Hon. Folajimi Oyekunle (Don) on his resounding victory in the Ibadan North Federal Constituency by-election held on Saturday.

In a statement released on Sunday by his Media Aide, Oyetunji Oyekunle, the Speaker described the victory as not only well-deserved but also a strong affirmation of the people’s trust in the capacity, competence, and credibility of Hon. Oyekunle, who served with distinction in the 9th Oyo State House of Assembly.

“Don was an outstanding lawmaker during his time in the House. His contributions to legislative debates, his commitment to his constituents, and his loyalty to the ideals of the PDP were evident to all. His victory is a testament to hard work, humility, and consistency,” the Speaker said.

Until his emergence as the PDP candidate, Hon. Oyekunle served as the Deputy Chief of Staff to Governor Seyi Makinde, a role in which he distinguished himself with diligence and political maturity.

Rt. Hon. Ogundoyin noted that his elevation to the National Assembly reflects the people’s appreciation for his service and their hope in his ability to deliver greater dividends of democracy.

The Speaker also praised the leadership of the PDP in Oyo State, especially Governor Seyi Makinde, for steering the party to yet another electoral success and for building a legacy of competent leadership across the state.

He further congratulated the people of Ibadan North for making the right choice and reclaiming the federal constituency seat for the PDP for the first time since 2011.

“This victory is more than a win; it is a statement that the people recognize good governance when they see it. I have no doubt that Hon. Don will once again serve the people with passion and purpose,” the Speaker added.

Rt. Hon. Ogundoyin urged Hon. Oyekunle to remain focused, humble, and people-driven in his legislative responsibilities at the National Assembly, promising continued support from the Oyo State House of Assembly.
