
As part of preparedness measures to prevent flood disaster in Egbeda local government communities.
The Executive Chairman of Egbeda local government, Hon Sanda Sikiru Oyedele has issued a mid-term flood alert warning to residents of Egbeda local government especially areas in flood-prone communities, to brace for possible flooding between September to November, 2025, as been announced by the “Nigerian Metrological Agency” (NIMET) and the “Nigeria Hydrological Services Agency” (NIHSA).
Hon. Sanda who gave the warning to residents of Egbeda communities during the sensitization campaign tagged, ” FLOOD PREPAREDNESS” ‘Be Aware’ ‘Be Prepared’ ‘Take Action’. said, residents should desist from blocking canals and illegal dumping of wastes into drainages that may cause devastating of floods as recently witnessed in some parts of Nigeria, never walk, swim or play in floodwaters as they are dangerous.
According to the chairman, “we remain committed to protecting of lives and properties, dedicated to averting the menace of flooding in our council area which has prompted us to embarked on clearing of drainages at Onidewure area of Ward 11 and Ajinti area of Ward 1 communities, Our team are currently working hard to ensure our people are not affected by flood.
He appealed for continue cooperation from residents, as addressing the challenge requires joint responsibility.
The sensitisation campaign had in attendance the heads of departments, deputies and heads of units.
