Dr. Adewale Kolapo Kareem (AKK), the All Progressives Congress (APC) gubernatorial aspirant for Oyo State in 2027, has issued a strongly worded statement following the abduction of Hon. Wale Oriade, a prominent APC chieftain in the state. In his address dated 7 December 2025, AKK called for the unconditional and swift release of Oriade, emphasizing the broader security crisis threatening the peace and development of Oyo and Nigeria at large.
Dr. Kolapo Kareem began by expressing solidarity with the growing public outcry, noting that Oriade’s kidnapping has sent shockwaves through the party and the wider community. He described Oriade as a devoted family man, grassroots leader, and committed public servant whose absence is deeply felt by his constituents and loved ones. He underscored that the abduction is not merely a personal tragedy but an assault on the collective desire for stability and safety.
The aspirant stressed that sustainable development cannot flourish where insecurity reigns. He asserted that security is the foundational pillar upon which education, healthcare, and economic growth depend, and its absence erodes trust in governance. Consequently, he urged the Oyo State government, the Nigeria Police Force, the Department of State Services (DSS), and all relevant security agencies to mount a coordinated, relentless effort to secure Oriade’s safe return.
Dr. Kolapo Kareem called on Oyo indigenes, Nigerians at home and abroad, and all people of goodwill to join in fervent prayers for Oriade’s release and for the safety of every Nigerian held by kidnappers. He prayed that divine intervention would soften the hearts of the captors and guide rescue operations, while offering strength to Oriade’s wife, children, and family during this ordeal.
Reiterating that Oyo State and Nigeria deserve environments free of fear, AKK affirmed that collective resolve and action can overcome the prevailing darkness. He closed with his campaign slogans—“Aseyori ni tiwa. A Task that must be done.” The statement concluded with a rallying cry for unity and resilience against insecurity.
