A leading All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship aspirant in Oyo State, Dr. Adewale Kolapo Kareem (AKK), on Tuesday paid a royal courtesy visit to the Alaafin of Oyo, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Abimbola Akeem Owoade, at his palace in Oyo town.
The visit formed part of Dr. Kareem’s ongoing consultations with key stakeholders and traditional institutions ahead of the 2027 governorship election. He emphasised the critical role of traditional rulers in promoting unity, preserving cultural heritage, and supporting sustainable development across Oyo State.
Dr. Kareem reaffirmed his deep respect for the revered stool of the Alaafin, describing the monarch as a custodian of Yoruba history, values, and leadership. He noted that meaningful governance must be anchored on collaboration with traditional institutions for peace and progress.
During the visit, Dr. Kareem presented his book and governance blueprint titled “Our Realistic Tomorrow” to His Imperial Majesty, explaining that it outlines practical solutions and a clear vision for the future development of Oyo State. He also respectfully sought the royal presence and blessing of the Alaafin of Oyo at the official launch of the book scheduled for later in the year, describing the monarch’s participation as a great honour and source of inspiration.
In his response, the Alaafin of Oyo commended Dr. Kareem for his humility, thoughtful engagement, and respectful approach. The monarch advised him to remain focused, united with his team, and committed to the welfare of the people, while offering prayers and fatherly counsel for his aspirations.
The royal visit concluded with goodwill exchanges and group photographs, further strengthening the bond between the APC governorship hopeful and the historic Oyo traditional institution.
Dr. Kareem reiterated his commitment to leadership that honours tradition, values wise counsel, and places the collective interest of the people of Oyo State at the centre of governance as the 2027 race approaches.
