

Dr. Adewale Kolapo Kareem (AKK), a leading governorship hopeful of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State, has reiterated his commitment to purposeful leadership and inclusive development ahead of the 2027 gubernatorial election.
Dr. Kareem made this known during a radio interview on Lagelu 96.7 FM, aired on Wednesday, December 7, 2026, in a programme hosted by popular broadcaster Temitayo Oyelade.
Speaking on the programme, the APC chieftain highlighted his motivation for seeking the governorship, stressing the need for innovative governance, economic revitalisation, and people-centred leadership in Oyo State. He noted that his aspiration is driven by a desire to reposition the state through strategic planning, efficient service delivery, and empowerment of youths and small business owners.
Dr. Kareem also used the platform to speak on the importance of party unity and grassroots mobilisation, describing the APC as a party with the structure and capacity to deliver sustainable development if entrusted with leadership in 2027. He urged party members and supporters across the state to remain focused and committed to strengthening the party ahead of the election cycle.
The governorship hopeful further emphasised the need for citizen participation in governance, encouraging residents of Oyo State to actively engage in the political process, particularly through voter registration and peaceful democratic participation.
Responding to questions on governance and leadership, Dr. Kareem maintained that Oyo State requires a leader with clear vision, administrative competence, and the courage to take decisive actions that will positively impact education, infrastructure, healthcare, and economic growth.
