Yoruba Nation agitator, Chief Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho, is en route to the Olubadan of Ibadanland’s palace, marking a significant milestone in his reintegration into Nigerian society. This development follows his reported removal from the government’s wanted list by President Bola Tinubu’s administration, clearing the way for his return to the country after years in exile.
In an exclusive interview, Igboho confirmed his journey, stating, “As I’m speaking to you, I’m on my way to Olubadan’s place. I should be there any moment from now.” His return is attributed to royal approval and divine intervention, with the Olubadan’s support playing a crucial role in his clearance.

Igboho’s spokesperson, Olayomi Koiki, announced on January 24, 2026, that Igboho would return home, declaring the move had the Olubadan’s backing. Koiki credited sustained royal interventions, political goodwill, and Yoruba leaders’ advocacy for Igboho’s clearance.
Igboho fled Nigeria in 2021 after the Department of State Services (DSS) raided his Ibadan residence, resulting in deaths and arrests. He was later arrested in Benin Republic while attempting to travel to Germany and remained abroad amid legal battles.
This return marks a turning point in Igboho’s case, a major flashpoint in Nigeria’s security and separatist discourse. His Olubadan Palace visit is expected to be his first major public engagement since exile.
Igboho has expressed gratitude to Yoruba monarchs, particularly the Olubadan and Ooni of Ife, for their support. He has also appealed to the Federal Government to remove his name from the wanted list, citing his contributions to Yoruba interests.

The Olubadan has recommended Igboho for a leadership role in Southwest security, asserting his capacity for the position. Igboho’s return has been welcomed by supporters, who see it as an opportunity for reconciliation and renewed activism.
