Leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ona-Ara Local Government Area of Oyo State have written to Governor Seyi Makinde, commending his administration for ongoing developmental projects in the area, while calling for an end to what they described as a 20-year dominance by Egbeda Local Government in the Egbeda/Ona-Ara Federal Constituency ticket.
In the letter addressed to the governor, the party leaders praised major infrastructural projects executed under the Makinde administration, including the dualisation of the Olorunsogo–Ijebu Igbo Road, the construction of the Nigerian Air Force Base in Ajia town, as well as other ongoing interventions across the local government.

However, the leaders expressed concern over the continued exclusion of Ona-Ara from producing the PDP’s candidate for the federal constituency, noting that Egbeda Local Government has retained the ticket uninterrupted since 2003.
They stated that the situation spans three electoral cycles — 2003–2011, 2011–2019, and 2019 to date — a development they warned is fueling dissatisfaction within the party and weakening internal equity.
The PDP leaders appealed directly to Governor Makinde to intervene and ensure that the next PDP candidate for the Egbeda/Ona-Ara Federal Constituency emerges from Ona-Ara, describing the move as critical to fairness, unity, and renewed grassroots confidence in the party.
The letter, dated January 28, 2026, was jointly signed by key party figures including PDP Chairman Alfa Kehinde Adeyemo; Hon. Mufutau Ogunremi; Hon. Jaye Bankole; Hon. Shoba Bakare (immediate party chairman); Chief Waheed Adurodekun; Hon. Hakeem Oke, a two-time former council chairman; and Hon. Akin Adegboyega, among others.
