In a significant event that highlighted the importance of quality education and leadership, Dr. Adesokan Samuel Adelodun, an aspirant for Oyo State House of Assembly, Ibarapa East State Constituency, has been honored with an Honorary Award by the Federation of Oyo State Students’ Union (FOSSU), OYSCATECH Chapter.
The award recognizes his outstanding contributions to student development and support for the union. The event, held at The Oyo State College of Agriculture and Technology (OYSCATECH), was part of FOSSU’s “Era of Dynamic Diplomacy” agenda. Dr. Adelodun delivered the keynote lecture, emphasizing the importance of combining quality education, relevant skills, clear career planning, and responsible leadership to achieve success. He urged students to view education as a tool for problem-solving, character building, and lifelong learning, rather than just pursuing certificates.
Dr. Adelodun also encouraged students to identify their strengths, acquire employable skills, and position themselves for opportunities beyond the classroom. Comrade Adegoboye Taiwo, former President of FOSSU OYSCATECH Chapter, spoke on student leadership and the importance of service, discipline, and vision in public engagement. Students who attended the symposium described the lecture as timely, inspiring, and impactful, noting that it provided clear direction on navigating education, career choices, and leadership responsibilities.
The FOSSU leadership reaffirmed its commitment to organizing more capacity-building programs that will prepare students for life after school and contribute meaningfully to societal development.
