As the holy month of Ramadan and the solemn season of Lent converge in 2026, Hon. Chief (Dr.) Ezekiel Temitope Oladimeji, popularly known as OTOPE, has extended heartfelt felicitations to his constituents in Egbeda/Ona-Ara Federal Constituency and the entire Muslim and Christian faithful in Oyo State.

In a goodwill message released to the press on Tuesday February 17th, 2026, the Director-General of the Oyo State Liaison Office in Abuja and Lagos urged residents to embrace the spiritual significance of this rare coincidence, emphasizing it as a powerful period for prayer, sacrifice, and national introspection.

“Ramadan and Lent represent a season of prayer and a time of sacrifice. It is a profound period that calls for unity among us all,” Dr. OTOPE stated. “As our Muslim brothers and sisters observe fasting and our Christian counterparts engage in Lenten reflection, we are all united by the common principles of devotion, charity, and self-denial.”

Dr. OTOPE, a prominent leader within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Oyo State, emphasized that the essence of these observances transcends religious boundaries, offering a collective opportunity to seek divine intervention for the nation.

“May God accept our devotion, renew our strength, and bless our land with peace and prosperity. In these challenging times, we must use this season to pray fervently for Nigeria’s unity and progress,” he added.

He encouraged the people of Egbeda/Ona-Ara to use the period to foster love and understanding among neighbours, irrespective of their faith, and to remember the less privileged in their prayers and charitable acts.

Concluding his message with a prayer for the season, Hon. OTOPE wished all observers a spiritually fulfilling period, saying, “Ramadan Kareem” to the Muslims and a “Blessed Lenten Season” to the Christians.
