The Ibadan Descendants’ Union, USA, is gearing up for its flagship event, the 13th Biennial Convention, scheduled to take place from September 17 to 20, 2026, in Rosemount, Minnesota. This premier gathering will bring together esteemed guests, including the Oyo State Governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde, the Olubadan of Ibadan, Oba Senator Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, Arusa I, and other dignitaries, to deliberate on the growth and development of Ibadan.
The convention, themed “Together for Ibadan Growths: Empowering Our Roots, Inspiring Our Future,” will feature keynote speakers, panel discussions, workshops, and exhibitions, providing a platform for networking and professional development. According to Oloye Abiola Iyiola, the National President of IDU-USA, the convention will reinforce the organization’s core mission of promoting health, education, and community development initiatives.
IDU-USA has made significant strides in these areas, and this convention aims to build on those efforts. The organization has been actively involved in various projects, and its presence is felt in the three core areas of focus. “Our presence is largely felt in the three areas, and we will continue to do more,” Iyiola stated.
The 13th Biennial Convention will also highlight special milestones, anniversaries, elections, policy decisions, and awards, underscoring IDU-USA’s commitment to promoting the health, academic, and economic growth of Ibadan. One of the highlights of the convention is the launch of an appeal fund for the proposed IDU-USA Medical Centre in Ibadan, a state-of-the-art facility that will feature a diagnostic unit, emergency unit, and comprehensive medical care.
The medical centre will offer various healthcare services, including nephrology, oncology, heart surgery, and other lifesaving interventions.
