Oyo 2027: Remi Oseni Is Not A Human Being. Makinde Can Testify To It. Why Arisekola? — Sanusi Ibrahim

As the 2027 elections approach, the people of Oyo State are faced with a daunting task – selecting a leader who will bring about positive change and development to the state. If I fail to speak the truth before the 2027 election, the good people of Oyo State will hold me accountable for withholding it from them before they cast their votes. As the Bible says, “A truthful witness gives honest testimony, but a false witness tells lies.” (Proverbs 12:17) And in the Quran, it is written, “O you who believe! Fear Allah and be with those who are truthful.” (Surah At-Tawbah 9:119) These verses emphasize the importance of honesty and truthfulness, especially in matters of leadership.

In my opinion, no ordinary human being could exhibit the selfless behaviour that Hon. Engr Aderemi Abas Oseni, the member representing Ido/Ibarapa East Federal Constituency and Chairman of the House Committee on Federal Roads Maintenance Agency(FERMA) consistently demonstrates. Even the two Holy Books, the Bible and the Quran, talk about telling the truth. How come a human being, if not an angel, will be spending billions of Naira even before he becomes an elected political office holder for the betterment of the people of Oyo State?

Though, as a philanthropist, late Aare Abudul-azeez Arisekola Alao was not a politician and never contested for any political office, he touched the lives of thousands of people in Oyo State and Nigeria. It was when he died that many secrets of his philanthropic gestures, how he assisted thousands of people in Oyo State and Nigeria, were unveiled. And if we look at it very well, “Hon. Aderemi Abas Oseni Is The Arisekola Of Our Time”, because he has been spending his own money for over two decades, even before Aare Arisekola Alao died. He is an experienced philanthropist who has been doing it selflessly.

But it was when he discovered, like what a Yoruba proverb says, that “if we leave a Mad Man to bury his Mother, he will roast it for eating,” that is, if Hon. Remi Oseni refuses to listen to the clamoring of the people of Oyo State to dabble into politics and contest for a key position in Oyo State, they will continue to be suffering from the tyrant politicians. And as a listener who was ready to rescue his people from slavery, he took a bold step to contest for the position of governor in 2011.

Still, they pleaded with him to step down from his ambition. And as a peaceful man, he agreed to step down for the then-candidate. In 2015, he contested and pleaded with him again to step down. In 2019 again, the incumbent Governor of Oyo State, Engr. Oluseyi Abiodun Makinde pleaded with him with tears and many promises to step down from his gubernatorial ambition for him. As a God-Sent-Angel who does not drive with over ambition, he agreed to step down. That is why Governor Seyi Makinde can attest to Hon. Engr Aderemi Abas Oseni’s exceptional character and leadership abilities, because he knew what he faced in the hands of other politicians before he could climb the chair of the number one citizen in Oyo State in 2019.

Hon. Aderemi Oseni has never once received any bribe before he could step down for anybody. It was after that that some stakeholders and leaders in Ido/Ibarapa East and Oyo State pleaded with him to accept the ticket of Ido/Ibarapa East Federal Constituency to show the people of Oyo State that he is not a do-or-die or overambitious politician, and he accepted it. Since when he has been elected as a member representing Ido/Ibarapa East Federal Constituency, he has been maintaining his first position as the most performed federal representative in Oyo State because he touches the life of the masses not only his constituency but in many local government in Oyo State in terms of education, road infrastructure, health, agriculture, and many other projects facilitated by him for the benefits of the good people of Oyo State.

I don’t want to start talking about many projects facilitated by him because it will occupy many spaces, but I will talk about it in my next part of his story. A few days ago, at the House of Representatives complex, after a joint interaction of National Assembly lawmakers with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Democracy Day, the three-term Senator representing Oyo North Senatorial District, Senator AbdulFatai Buhari, and many House of Representatives members visited Remi Oseni to congratulate him on his previous birthday.

As is his custom, Hon. Aderemi Abas Oseni shared his insights on leadership, drawing from both the Bible and the Quran, with those present in his office. He used the issue of his birthday to preach about leadership that “if you look at the experience of Job, he was really overwhelmed with worries when his children were celebrating his birthday ceremony. He said I wouldn’t know what to do with all these children after the ceremony. And after the ceremony, everything about Job was where he intended. The same thing with the story of John the Baptist.

So, anywhere that issue that has to do with scripture, where the issue of birthday is taking place, it’s a place that you really need to just stand on. Especially when you are doing a symbolic one, that is when people want to display the capacity of what they have money for, and drinking. But we don’t need that. Just look for people who are unable to feed themselves. That is an opportunity for me to extend giving.

“I always tell people you did not bring anything when you are coming to this life and you will return with nothing. So, whatever you have, if you won the whole of Abuja, you are going nowhere with it. When righteous leaders are in authority, people rejoice, particularly in areas such as education, infrastructure, healthcare, and other social services that contribute to human development.

People will appreciate whom God has put in the helm of affairs for them to be able to appreciate the goodness of God that will work that the Lord has committed into their hands. Of course, people don’t understand that, until you put somebody who has the fear of God, who can interpret the love of God, who can introduce, integrate it into politics, that is where people will be able to enjoy the dividend of democracy the way it’s ought to be benefiting people.

He further notes that the practice of democracy and politics in Nigeria often deviates from its true ideals. Because when somebody is at the age of 70 years and still pricing land in Banana Inland? What you need to do is to start looking beyond the one you have at home. Immediately you are 70, you should be enjoying what you have, and be giving out what you know you don’t need, because no point in keeping anything.

So what do you now want to do at age 65, 67, 68, 69, fighting to be a minister, and you become a minister, you start stealing. Don’t you know you are sick? That is the situation we find ourselves in. So, that is why it’s good for a minister of God, either in an Islamic setting or Christianity, to join politics to educate people.

It’s appointed to a man once you die. After death is judgment. Everybody will be judging at that point. That is when what you have done, what you ought to do, and what you have not done will be assessed. And that is the danger in the way we lead. They fight and fight because I can’t imagine somebody killing people, somebody rigging elections, somebody bypassing a process, doing all manner of things to win elections, and you now go to church and start Thanksgiving.

You are just wasting your energy. You go to the mosque and call an Islamic priest to come and pray for you that you won the election and put money inside the plate. When you are using other people’s glory to shine, it’s a matter of time. Remi Oseni said the Bible says the legacy of the father visited the third and fourth generation. So, even if you escape, your children will not escape it.

What we are enjoying today may not be our labor. I used to tell people, I went to primary school in the village, secondary school in the village, started tertiary institution in the village, and if I now find myself here as a representative today, or where I find myself, might not be the National Assembly, it’s by God’s grace.

Going to Harvard University does not make you a successful person in life. But there is a man behind success who freely gives. The only place I never knew I would be is the National Assembly. So, now that I am here, it’s up to me to plan how I will navigate the conduct of the environment to meet the needs of my people without affecting my spiritual upbringing.

And in the Islamic way, a lot of people will be saying I am a Christian, but I was born Muslim, and I understand what the Islamic religion is all about from A to Z. Every Friday, I call the Imam, the spiritual leader in my house, to come and pray. I was an extremist. I need prayer, so there’s nothing I don’t know.

That is why I am one of the people who are following Senator AbdulFatai Buhari’s steps. I build mosques as if I’m building churches. So, it doesn’t cost me anything to say I want to build mosques. As always, send people to Mecca, and as I am speaking now, my people are in Mecca. I distributed hundreds of rams during the Sallah festival. It’s about life, touching life is not about religion. Religion will not take anyone to heaven, it’s about your relationship with the God you are serving, so not religion”. He concluded.

So, you can imagine that for a politician to be saying that, it means if someone like Hon. Engr Aderemi Abas Oseni becomes Governor of Oyo State in 2027, the people of Oyo State will understand what real politics means and will enjoy real dividends of democracy.
