Egbeda LG Chairman, Sanda Commends Makinde’s Push For Ibadan Airport International Standard, Seeks Harmonious Stakeholders Relations

The Executive Chairman of Egbeda local government, Hon Sanda Sikiru Oyedele has sought for harmonious relationship with Environmental And Social Impact Assessment Stakeholders for the proposed Samuel Ladoke Akintola Airport.

Hon Sanda made the assertions at the interactive town hall meeting held with the stakeholders and participants within Egbeda local government area on the upgrading of Samuel Ladoke Akintola Airport to international standard.

While welcoming the stakeholders team with the participants, the chairman reaffirmed that the purpose of the gathering was to brainstorm on the successful completion of the ongoing projects and to give support to Oyo State government on the expansion of the airport.

Hon Sanda commended the efforts of Oyo State government under the leadership of His Excellency, Engr Seyi Makinde FNSE for leaving no one in doubt about his promise to complete the total upgrade of the airport to an international standard and ensure coming next year, intending pilgrims from Oyo State will be airlifted directly from Ibadan to Saudi Arabia before the end of his administration.

He reiterated that, the governor never minced words on his determination to build a viable state when he said, “the upgrade of Ibadan Airport, circular road projects among others are important for the state economic turnaround and are dear to his government and quite important for the expansion of the state economy”.

The team leader of the Environmental Social Impact Assessment Stakeholders, Mrs Omotolani Olaleye stated the purpose of the meeting that Oyo State Investment and Public Private Partnership Agency(OYSIPA)is undertaking the upgrade of Samuel Ladoke Akintola Airport (formerly Ibadan) at Alakia to lnternational standard.

“The project is designed to expand the Airport’s capacity for international passengers and cargo operations, and strengthen regional connectivity within southwest region”

“In line with the Environmental Impact Assessment and International best practices, the project is required to undergo an Environmental And Social Impact Assessment which covers the construction and operational phases of the upgraded airport facilities”

The meeting had in attendance the traditional leaders, politicians, community and religious leaders, farmers, Park management system (PMS), youth leaders and management of Egbeda local government.
