The African Action Congress (AAC), Osun State Chapter, has warned residents of the state, urging them to be wary of former governor Rauf Aregbesola and his new political platform, the African Democratic Congress (ADC), ahead of the 2026 and 2027 election cycles.
In a statement issued on Wednesday and signed by the party’s Publicity Secretary, Akinlade Babatunde, the AAC accused Aregbesola of leaving behind a trail of financial mismanagement, massive debts, and unresolved workers’ welfare crises during his eight-year administration.
According to the AAC, Osun workers are still grappling with the fallout of what it described as Aregbesola’s “contributory pension scheme scam,” alleging that the former governor’s policies plunged civil servants and retirees into years of hardship.

The statement further blamed him for excessive borrowing that “threw the state into deep financial distress.”
The party claimed Aregbesola has resumed statewide political tours disguised as consultations — visiting all 30 local government areas — but said Osun people must resist being “deceived again.”
“Instead of entertaining Aregbesola as he embarks on political visitations across the 30 LGAs, people should hold him responsible by asking fundamental questions about the financial burden he placed on Osun before leaving office in 2018,” the AAC said.
“Anyone who has once destroyed our past cannot guarantee us a better future.”
The AAC also launched a direct attack on the ADC, describing it as a gathering of individuals with “questionable characters” from national to local levels.
It lamented what it called Nigerians’ tendency to “return to failed politicians” despite repeated disappointments.
The party said Osun State “deserves better governance” and appealed to citizens to entrust the AAC with their mandate in the upcoming election cycles, insisting that it is committed to delivering transparent and people-centered leadership.
He call for vigilance, urging residents to “learn from history” and reject Aregbesola’s political resurgence.
