Saheed Adewale Oriade, a prominent chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State, has regained his freedom after being held captive by his abductors for 39 days. Oriade, an APC youth leader, was kidnapped on December 3, 2025, at his office in Ibadan.

Recall that Naija TODAY News had earlier reported on how the abductors demanded a staggering N50 million ransom for Oriade’s release, plunging his family into a state of anguish. The family was grappling with the daunting prospect of meeting the ransom demand, while the Nigeria Police launched a thorough investigation into the kidnapping.

According to eyewitnesses, the abductors, who arrived in a blue Micra vehicle, forcibly seized Oriade and whisked him away. The incident sent shockwaves through the APC and the wider community, with many calling for increased security measures to prevent such incidents.

Multiple sources confirmed that Oriade regained his freedom in the early hours of January 10, under circumstances that are yet to be made public. Details surrounding his release, including whether a ransom was paid, remain sketchy, and security agencies are yet to issue an official statement.
