The recent conferment of prestigious awards on His Imperial Majesty, the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, Arusa 1, and the Governor of Oyo State, Engr. Seyi Makinde, as reported by the Sun Newspaper, has elicited commendation from a leading Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship aspirant in Oyo State, Ambassador Olufemi Ajadi Oguntoyinbo.
In a statement issued and personally signed by him, Ajadi expressed his heartfelt congratulations to the Olubadan and Governor Makinde on their well-deserved recognition, describing it as a manifestation of their pacesetting contributions to governance, politics, economic development, and the preservation of Yoruba cultural heritage.
The Olubadan was conferred with the Sun Newspaper Lifetime Achievement Award 2025, while Governor Makinde received The Sun Newspaper’s Political Personality of the Year 2025 Award, in recognition of their outstanding services to the state and the country.
Ajadi noted that the awards are a testament to the great roles being played by the Olubadan and Governor Makinde, not only in the development of Oyo State but in the entire South West and Nigeria. He praised the Olubadan’s efforts in promoting the tradition, economic development, and overall growth of Ibadanland since ascending to the throne of his forefathers.
The PDP governorship aspirant also commended Governor Makinde’s people-oriented policies, which have earned him the recognition of the Sun Newspaper, a leading voice of the voiceless in the country. He expressed his conviction that Governor Makinde’s award is a reflection of his resolute decision to support strong democratic values in the country and his conviction to stand firmly for democratic ideals.
Ajadi stated that he is not surprised by Governor Makinde’s receipt of the Political Personality of the Year Award, given his contributions to the development of Nigerian democracy, good government, and great development. He prayed that God Almighty would continue to strengthen the Olubadan and Governor Makinde, granting them good health and wisdom to continue their good work.
Furthermore, Ajadi expressed his confidence that the choices of the Olubadan and Governor Makinde for the outstanding awards were not only right but well-deserved. He emphasized that Governor Makinde has remained an ideal Democrat, a strong contributor to the development of Nigerian democracy, and a champion of good governance.
